Avoid applying for multiple cards too early

When you apply for a credit card, a credit check is run through your current finances, so as to ascertain whether you are eligible for the same. The credit card companies demand information, or the credit reference, during the process of application of credit cards. In the UK, there are three main credit reference agencies, Equifax, Experian and Callcredit. These agencies are instrumental in finding out about your previous credit reports.

You should not resort to applying for multiple credit cards, within a short span of time, as you might end up looking suspicious to the lender. Your previous credit reports will determine whether your application will be accepted or not, but even if you have a moderate report, your applications should not hint to the future insufficiency, if there will be any.

Apart from this, owning several dormant accounts can seriously affect your applications, so it is better not to have multiple applications running, when you know that you might not avail of them in the future. In case you have applied for interest free credit cards, you should not have a bad credit report after the introductory period. If the lenders are suspicious about your frequent applications to the credit card companies, not only will your current applications will not come to fruition, but your future credit report will also be affected.
